Most canvas totes go limp the second you put anything in them. The Dock Bag is built to hold its shape, hold your stuff, and look better the more you use it.
Why We Built a Bag
The summer carry-all is one of the most under-engineered categories in menswear. You either get a $10 cotton tote that sags under the weight of a paperback, or a $300 designer bag that's overdesigned and overpriced. We wanted to make the version that sits in the middle: well-built, well-priced, and built for years of real use.
The Dock Bag is exactly that.
The Construction
- Heavyweight canvas — not the thin, single-ply tote canvas you see everywhere. This is dense, durable fabric that develops character as it ages
- Reinforced handles — bartacked at the stress points so they don't pull loose under load
- Structured base — the bag stands on its own when you set it down and doesn't collapse when you fill it
- Generous capacity — fits a beach day's worth of stuff, or a weekend's worth of essentials, with room to spare
The Colors
Four colorways, all built around the same summer palette as the rest of our seasonal line:
- Pesto — muted olive green, plays beautifully with neutrals
- Merlot — deep, earthy red
- Butter Yellow — soft summer yellow that matches the Brando Slub colorway
- Baby Blue — coastal-inspired blue, the perfect beach-day match
All four colors are designed to coordinate with our caps, tees, and shorts — particularly the Marina Cap, Brando Slub, and Signature Shorts.
What It Carries
Real-world test cases:
The Beach Setup
Towel, sunscreen, a book, water bottle, sandals, a change of clothes. Fits with room for the snacks you'll inevitably bring.
The Weekend Trip
A change of clothes, toiletries, a hoodie for the cool evening, a laptop or book. Goes from car to Airbnb to dinner without looking out of place.
The Daily Carry
Laptop, notebook, water bottle, keys, snack, gym shorts. The structured base keeps everything organized rather than dumping into a single pile at the bottom.
The Grocery Run
The handles are strong enough to carry actual groceries without cutting into your hand. Two bags worth of stuff, easily.
How It Compares
| Factor | Standard Cotton Tote | Sown Again Dock Bag |
|---|---|---|
| Canvas weight | Lightweight, often single-ply | Heavyweight, dense weave |
| Handles | Standard stitching | Reinforced, bartacked |
| Base | Flat, collapses | Structured, holds shape |
| Longevity | Months | Years |
The Long Game
Heavyweight canvas only gets better with use. The fabric softens, the color develops a patina, and the bag picks up the small marks and creases of a life well-lived. In five years, this is the bag you'll point to and say "I've had it forever."
That's the opposite of disposable fashion — and it's exactly the kind of object we want to make.
